Hive Minded AI Launches Private Pilot for Commercial Beekeeping Operations
Hive Minded AI, our vertical AI platform for beekeeping operations, is now in private pilot with commercial beekeepers across the Midwest. The platform combines colony health management, weather-aware planning, and voice-enabled field workflows into a single system built for operations that manage hundreds to thousands of hives.
What the pilot covers
The pilot group is running Hive Minded AI through a full season of active beekeeping. The initial focus is on the workflows that operators tell us cost them the most time and money:
- Structured colony inspections with voice dictation and offline support for field work without cell service.
- AI-assisted disease detection using visual and environmental inputs, with predictive alerts for Varroa mite thresholds and hive stress indicators.
- Integrated forecasts that adjust inspection routes and treatment schedules based on local conditions.
- Per-apiary profitability tracking, honey yield trends, and treatment cost analysis tied directly to colony-level data.
Why this matters now
Commercial beekeeping is under pressure from multiple directions. Colony loss rates remain above sustainable levels. Labor is hard to find and keep. And most operations still manage their data across spreadsheets, paper notebooks, and disconnected sensor dashboards.
Hive Minded AI was built because the existing options fall into two camps: generic farm management software that doesn't understand colony biology, or single-purpose sensor tools that don't connect to the business side. Neither works well for an operator managing 500 hives across multiple yards.
Pilot milestones
- 5 commercial operations enrolled across Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan
- Roughly 2,400 hives being tracked through the platform
- Voice dictation accuracy tuned for field conditions (wind, ambient noise, gloved hands)
- Offline sync verified across multi-yard inspection routes without reliable cell coverage
- Weather alert integration live for all pilot yards
What's next
The pilot runs through the summer season. Feedback from participating operators is shaping the v1 feature set, with pollination contract management and IoT sensor integration (Broodminder, temperature/humidity monitors) planned for the public launch later this year.
